Meet Veronica Carrillo

Veronica Carrillo

Veronica Carrillo.- My passion for travel, for learning about cultures, customs, people; led me to study a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management 27 years ago. I started working in the hospitality industry as a Tour Guide and worked my way up until I became the owner of my own company Jatay Tours and special events, which I managed from 2004 to 2009 in Ensenada, Baja California. At this time is where I found my passion for the culture of wine. The most requested tour was the one to the Valle de Guadalupe, one that we soon transformed in an experience of several days. I studied a course at UABC (University of Baja California) named “The Appreciation of Wine”, which sparked my interest to put in practice what I have learned in the experiences I offered at Jatay tours.
For family reasons my husband and I decided to move to Chula Vista in California with our 2 sons, 11 years ago. I have had the opportunity to work for important companies in the hospitality industry in San Diego as Old Town Trolley Tours, Hotel Del Coronado and Chula Vista Golf Course. As well I have volunteered for the PTSA of Bonita Vista High School, for the Womens Retreat of St. Rose of Lima, the PCMA Annual Convention in San Diego, for the San Diego Wine and Food Festival and the Cherry Blossom Festival of the Japanese Friendship Garden.
The opportunity to live on both sides of the border has given me a broader vision of the interesting culture lived in the region, one we share on the culture of wine, being San Diego where the first vines were planted in California. I want to bring this experience in a professional, simple and fun way and share it with you.
